Every little girl dreams of spinning around a ballroom in a sparkling dress under dazzling lights. When I first stated at Mines I joint the Ballroom Dance Club, and the Argentine Tango and Viennese Waltz teams. I have also briefly danced East Coast Swing, Salsa, Bachata, Country Swing, and Foxtrot.

I have been a captain of the Waltz team for two years. As a leader of the team I am responsible for teaching new members the dance, creating lesson plans, choreographing a spring and fall performance, and planing dance events.

The waltz team has been working on creating the lesson plans to match the National Dance Council of America syllabi and set competition to standardize and match our dance to the styles done across the United States.

I was also able to complete at the Legacy Dance Festival in 2024 and won my Viennese Waltz/ Foxtrot challenge.

Being a captain of the waltz team has given me the opportunity to learn how to create a culture of acceptance and learning and teach people that have never danced before to move to the melody.
